Dominic’s varied repertoire and broad experience allows him to provide a wide range of performances to suit each individual venue, institution or event. He can provide sessions of any length from 20 to 60 minutes, and up to four performances in a day. His store of tales ranges from short mass-participation stories for young children to longer sessions of more complex tales for adults and older children. He tells to audiences of any size from 5 to 500+, in all manner of locations, both inside and outside.

In many of Dominic’s performances at schools, libraries, festivals, conservation sites and other venues, he chooses stories in the moment from his repertoire that are appropriate to the nature of the audience. He also has a number of specific shows that he tours:

  • Crow

Intelligent, ruthless, stark, graceful… crows haunt not only the landscapes around us, but also the human inner world. Folktale, myth and folklore abound with black-feathered tricksters and shape-shifters. Dominic weaves their stories along a northern borderland between fields and sea. Here, in the shadows of his grandfather's life and the saltmarsh channels, neither crows nor people are quite what they seem.

In 2009 Dominic was awarded the New Directions Commission by Cambridge Storytelling Festival, with funding from the Arts Council, to create a new performance piece for adults. Crow is the result, a piece that melts together folkltale & folklore, biography & myth and pours its story across the tideline between the tame and the wild. It was premiered at the festival in May 2009, and has since been performed across the country at venues including The Barbican, the Soho Theatre in London's West End and The Times Cheltenham Literature Festival.

"Magnificent" "If I had to leave tonight, Dominic Kelly's Crow would have been worth the 3 hour drive"

" He held me spellbound for the whole hour."    Feedback from Cambridge Storytelling Festival

  • The Gift
If you want to turn back the clock and regain what you’ve wasted, then there’s a price to pay. But who will have to pay it? Dominic Kelly melts down a full-bloodied adult fairy tale and pours it inside a crunchy contemporary shell. A walk in the mountains might never seem quite the same again
